Im at a loss here , my landing light 3 red perm live 3 black and one single red which is feeding the light is not working all the perm live wires have current but the feed is dead, all other lights on this circuit are fine any help would be welcome

Check at the lightswitch - you should have a permanent live and a switched live - which should change state when you switch on/off. Your switch could be faulty.

Thanks if it helps this light is controlled by two switches one on the ground floor and one on the 1st floor. Up until about a week ago everything was fine, house is 14 yrs old ( would a problem with one switch cause both not to work?)

Yes it could. Two-way switches have three terminals - common, L1 and L2. The common is connected internally to either L1 or L2 at all times. When you toggle the switch, it just gets changed over to the other one. At one of the two-way switches, the common terminal should be connected to a live supply from the consumer unit. At the other two-way switch, the common terminal should be connected to the light fitting live terminal. (the switched live terminal in the ceiling rose)The L1 terminal at one switch should be connected to the L1 at the other switch, and similarly for the L2 terminals. So an internal fault in either switch could prevent the live supply from getting to the light. Sketch it out and it is easy to follow - I'd attach a sketch if I could figure out a way. Hope this helps with the trouble shooting.

It's from an American site, so the supply is labelled 110V hot, in UK it would be 240V obviously. You can see the two common terminals, one going to the supply, the other to the light. L1 - L1 and L2 - L2 as per the diagram.
