A couple of main possibilities.

First is that there is a leak in the filling loop valve causing water to enter the system all the time. make sure it is turned off fully and probably best to disconnect it just to make sure.

If thats not it then its probably a leak in the heat exchanger allowing mains water to enter the system.

Once you have the problem fixed you may find that the system looses pressure. Often the pressure relief valve that is currently openeing regularly can fail to seal itself properly and needs to be replaced aswell.

there is a drip coming from the bottom of the boiler. is the heat exchange easy to find and fix

Unlikely. If it is the heat exchanger water is leaking from the mains side into the central heating side. If you are getting dripping then there would have to be two leaks.

Most likely the pressure relief outlet isnt draining somewhere properly and is leaking.
