Cellulose paste can be used for vinyls, its more associated with finer papers because it doesnt stain or affect the dye used in the manufacture of the paper.
If you have any paint brushes that have gone a bit stiff (I dont mean solid and encrusted with paint) then you can leave them soaking in the paste it softens the bristles up lovely.
You dont see much of it about now..its mostly starch paste (lap) or starch ether (solvite polycel etc)
