CENTRAL HEATING ADDITIVES

Can somebody give me an idea of what the myriad of liquid additives do and if theres a one that does it all ,ie cleans ,stops boiler noise etc.

Also how they are put into the system (pumped and gravity fed is I believe the term for what I have got ie it has a pump and a header tank in the loft)?
