I have a Potterton Flamingo 50S wall hung balanced flue gas boiler. The boiler fires up ok but after around 15 minutes of running the main burners cut out and the ignition pilot light also cuts out. I have no problem with relighting the pilot light and firing up the boiler again but it then shuts down again after the same period of running. The water is circulating around the heating system and the radiators start to warm before the boiler cuts out. The same thing happens to the boiler if I just have the hot water system on. I have stripped down and cleaned the circulating pump (fully pumped system) and this appears to be operating satisfactorily as do the two isolating valves. The gas control valve to the boiler was renewed in early 1994. Up until now the boiler has functioned very well considering its age. I have read through the Boiler Installation and Serving Manual to try and determine a reason for the problem but have had no luck.
Any suggestions as to why the boiler is failing after such a short time of running would be welcome.
