Good morning.
My central heating has developped a fault, and has decided not to run.

The boiler is lit, and sat there doing nothing. It does not appear to be going out on over temperature.

The room thermostat is set correctly, and you can hear the click at what feels to be a sensible temperature - i.e. the boiler should be on.

The programmer is set, and within the "on" time band.

The pump is silent, and not running.

Even when i press the "override" button on the timer, nothing happens.

If i swith the timer to constant, still nothing happens. you can hear the timer "clicking" as it supposedly switches on, but there is no response from either the pump or the boiler.

The same response is obtained when playing with either the hot water or the heating.

Does anyone have any ideas? is it the timer switch knackered?

Thank you in advance for your time and advice.

to add to this saga, i have come home this evening and started the heating.

it's run OK for about half and hour and now stopped again. the timer and the thermostat both say run, but the pump is stopped and the boiler's standing.

is this a dodgy pump?

yep. thanks for that!
i've actually just manually opened the valve, and it kicked the pump and boiler in.
having put it back in auto, i've also checked that the valve is doing what it should in terms of switching off demand for HW and CH etc, and it seems to be doing the job.

Perhaps it's sticky or in the process of failing?

I've had this same issue this morning. Came back last night after weekend away to stone cold house. We have one of those valves and it is making a nasty buzz noise for a few seconds then nothing. Is also very hot. I'm not knowledgable about these things, but the symptoms don't look good!

thanks for the previous posts, think I know what needs to happen :)
