Central heating only comes on when I run the hot water

and not always at that. A few weeks ago the heating stopped coming on when I turned up the thermostat. However if I left it turned up it would start maybe an hour or two or five later. Then it stopped coming on unless I ran the hot water tap for a while and only then sometimes.
Any ideas please

first idea that springs to mind is what type of boiler/system is it

IThanks for the reply it's a Puma 80e combination boiler about 5 years old

Do search on : dripping hot tap, diverter valve. It'll be one of those.

I'll try that although Ithe hot tap does not drip thanks.
