The central heating pump remains on for about 30 minutes after the water/air temperature is reached and boiler cuts out. It is gas fired and I have a Potterton EP3001 programmer. Is there a fix?
Does the system have a 3 port diverter valve or 2 x 2 port valves?
The boiler will run the pump after the demand has stopped to dissipate heat from the boiler (to stop unnecessary overheats). However if the heat can't be dissipated the pump will run for a considerable time. There should be a bypass valve - this should normally be open at least a few turns.
