Hi I need to drain a CH system to paint behind a radiator but there are no drain points on the lower system.

What is the best way to do this to avoid a flood?

I can reduce the pressure from the boiler drain.

Regards

Don't bother. You can reach in so far with your brush, and the area you can't get to isn't visible anyway.

Drain the system to paint behind one radiator? Turn off both valves, crack the joint to the rad and drain the rd. Once the rad is empty dissconnect both valves from the rad and lift the rqad off it's wall brackets. I will admit that emptying the rad this way does take a bit of time but it's a whole lot easier than draining the system. Or as said just paint behind anyway as the unpainted bit will not show.

Depending on your connecting pipes you can lift the radiator off the wall supports and crank it down horizontally supported on a few strategically positioned bricks although I go with long handled roller these days

Hi thanks for the replies the radiator is what’s commonly known as a designer radiator and is probably less than 10mm off the wall and you can see through the slats to the wall behind. But one of these suggestions will probably work cheers
