Hi All I have just moved into a new house and I'm freezing in the morning so want to set the timer on my boiler but it wont work.
I have the glow worm 30 cxi Boiler. I have followed the instruction in the manual to try and set it but still no luck. it does have a honeywell relay box underneath but no thermostat anywhere else - I mailed the previous tenant who informed there did used to be a remote thermostat with it but I have looked and not found it. Is the honeywell box stopping me being able to set the timer on the boiler or should I be looking elsewhere for the problem??

its a honeywell hc60ng. Im a woman I dont know about these things >.<

Under normal operation, pressing the button on the HC60NG will override the current relay position. So if it's off, it will turn on and vice versa.

However, if the unit has not detected a signal from the thermostat for a while, which it won't if it's missing, it will enter 'failsafe mode' and a red light shows on the Receiver Box. The problem is that whilst it can be overridden in an emergency to give you some heat, 20% 'on', 80% 'off' you need the thermostat to do it. So you have a problem.

In your case, you need to find the thermostat, or obtain a replacement. It is possible to bypass the relay box wiring, but the system would not be thermostatically controlled and not comply with building regulations.

For reference, The instructions can be found by clicking here.

I cant really afford to replace the remote I think he had its £100. how can I find out which other thermostats are compatible with the relay box?

There are several Honeywell RF thermostats that are compatible with the HC60 relay box. However, they are usually sold as a kit so will come with their own relay box. There's one here on ebay for £64.99, or you could try contacting Honeywell to see if you can buy just the thermostat as a spare part.

As you are a tenant, it is the landlord's legal responsibility to provide you with a working heating system. I would ask him if he has the controller as he may have removed it for safe keeping. If he doesn't have it, insist that he replaces it.
