Hi I have just lifted a floorboard because we had a noisey central heating pipe, I have noticed that there appears to be an electrical wire running parrellel to the pipes under the floor, what is this wire for and is it safe as the pipe obviously do get hot.

Thanks

Could be anything, maybe nothing to do with the heating, but making use of the holes made for the pipes.
It could be part of the ring main or a spur, you need to trace it.

It doesn't really matter what it's for but it would be better along side the pipes rather than between them. In any case the pipe heat shouldn't cause a problem.

You should have a gap of 25mm between the pipes and the cable.

From the out of focus picture the cable appears to be 6mm or 10mm.

Possibly for the cooker or an electric shower.

I hope your heating pipes are well earthed for when the insualtion melts through
