Hi people i am new to this so please be patient!!!
I recently moved into an old house which had radiators downstairs and only one radiator upstairs, I decided to install radiators in all three bedrooms and a towel radiator in the bathroom, did this using speedfit pipes drained the system cut the flow pipe and branched off for the new radiators and the same for the return pipe, refilled the system (its the old type with boiler downstairs and tank upstairs and two expansion tanks in the loft) switched on the radiators and hey presto they all worked, except now i cant get any hot water through the taps!! any ideas i thought the hot water and central heating systems were seperate and so shouldn't be affected this way, any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

guess: have you checked the tanks in loft? are they full (they should be)

yes tanks in loft are full
I have been reading the other pages in this forum could it be an "air lock on the gravity side" although i have no idea what that means and how to cure it

Are you getting no water out of the hot taps or are you getting water but it is cold ? If the later then we would need more details, if the former i.e. no or little water, probably an air lock in the hot water system; easiest way to clear this is to use the cold mains pressure to blow the airlock out. Connect a piece of hose to the cold mains tap (usually the kitchen sink), connect other end to hot tap and open hot tap full, Now open cold tap full and the cold mains pressure will blow the air lock out, you will hear it, don't over do it though. close both taps, remove hose and try hot tap.
