Hi, can anybody help? I have had a new boiler fitted before xmas and am having problems. The manufacturer says the boiler is ok and the installer says I have a leak somewhere.

The boiler is an alpha he33 and is connected to a unvented cylinder along with a pressure vessel.

I have since discovered that the combination boiler is the wrong type but the installer has said that he is only using the CH side! Waste of money i know but I just want the problem fixed.

The problem is that every morning the pressure in the boiler is at zero and as such no CH comes on. There is water being discharged through the blow off pipe but I dont know where it is coming from. The alpha tech disconnected the boiler blow off so it must be coming from the cylinder.

I cannot find a leak and the installer doesnt want to know....

If anybody can confirm whether or not a combination boiler is compatable with this type of set up I would appreciate it.

I would sugest there is a leak somewhere, although it may be the exp vessel needs charging which would be unusual on a new boiler.
If nothing was coming from prv but there was still a discharge from the pipe it must be from the cylinder, either expansion relief or temp/pressure relief valve.
Cant see why anyone would use a combi if no taps are planned to run directly from it

Bet he got it on one of alphas give away promotions

Sounds like the installer is an idiot. He should be made to exchange it for a system boiler, fit for the job it is intended for.

It would have been cheaper too ;)
