the heat to my radiators were very inconsistent and my heating engineer advised power flushing. this has been done and the 1st floors rads are now getting hot but the downstairs are still stone cold. it appears that the hot water is venting into the tank in the loft and this is very hot. i would appreciate any advice Thanks

I have replaced the pump on the system and a motorised valve on the heating. Cold water works perfectly

That is what i thought it seem like , but the plumber tried a variety of different things and none seemed to work. Do you know the best way to sort this out

The system not the cylinder

so into the small f/e tank.

then you more likely have a restriction or blockage causing the water to go up the vent pipe into f/e.
does it happen on hw only as well ?

what speeds the pump on ?

drain a couple of gallons out

does the f&e tank refill

if it does

shut all the rads off

then open the one nearest the boiler wait a couple of mins
then close it
then repeat for the rest

Yes the small tank...it only appears to happen on the heating and not the water
