I live in a house that has a downstairs baxi backboiler 401. This boiler feeds 4 radiators upstairs and at some point 2 radiators have been tapped off to feed 2 downstairs radiators. The problem being the downstairs radiators don't really get hot enough. The pump is very old and a bit noisy so I am going to replace it. Screwfix recommend a 5M head pump for a system up to 60,000btu. My boiler is 29,000btu What I want to know would it be of any advantage to buy a 6m pump to increase the flow around the house or would this just cause a problem in itself.

If it worked ok with a 5m pump, leave it at that. There's a thing about people wanting a more powerful pump, and it's daft. The pump has to move water fast enough to give an 11 deg C drop across the boiler. any faster and there's no benefit.
