I can't see how you'll fix that to any kind of standard without removing the whole lot, redoing pipework into the wall and tiling again.

anything else would look awful. it amazes me that someone would think that was acceptable.

Maybe you could box the pipework in and then tile it in a contrasting color or something.

Thats the delux model, usually just have a bucket with holes in it.

You have holes in your bucket? Luxury. When I were a lad we just used to tip bucket over each other. It were an empty bucket and all.
