Do you have special fire alarm certificates to fill out if you with NIC?..........

e.g 3 mains operated fire alarms fitted in a house.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Or is a fire alarm ticket not needed and the normal route of minor works or electrical ticket.

cheers

Hi mst.

When doing the DIS course for the NIC we were given;

BS5839-6;2004.
Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings.
Part 6. code of practice for the design, installation and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems in dwellings.

There are 'model' certs in the document, but unsure as to where you can get copies etc.
Its a complicated read I assure you !!! :eek:

During the course ( apart from handing you the document), and the 2 assessment jobs, nothing was mentioned (and no certs asked for)

I hope this is of some help.

Hello mst,

I do opologise. :oops: The memory starts to fade at my age !

When I paid the NIC for membership (which I didn't need to :oops: ) they DID issue me with a pad of certs. ( not too complicated either if you have that BS 5839-6;2004 to help you on the gradings and categorys etc).

"Certificates of Design, installation and commissioning of a fire detection and alarm system of grade B,C,D,E or F."
Form : F10 (B-F)

The only thing the tutor said as he handed out our forms was " dont forget, you must do a smoke test, pushing the test button is not sufficient,"

Sorry if I mislead you in my original post.

Can any 'pro' sparks advise me on why the assessor did not ask for the certificates for the detectors on my assessment visit please ?.

Thanks

Sorry Lads,

Anybody enlighten me as to my question about the 'assessor' not wanting to see any certs, or mentioning the smokes and rise of heat detectors that were present ??

He seemed to want to know everything else !! :LOL: :LOL:
