When my boiler (Camray 3) has been running for a number of hours it is sending hot water back to the expansion tank which I believe is correct. However it does seem to be doing this excessively so much so that its creating steam which in turn is creating water droplets on my roofing felt.

The loft that the tank is situated in is quite small so that may have a bearing on the problem. Also I did check out some of the previous postings and found a reference to 'kettling' - could this be my problem.

Any ideas

It certainly isn't.

The boiler could be said to be kettling, depending on your definition. It is certainly boiling the water and the boiler needs descaling.

When was the boiler last serviced?

How long did it take?

I see a lot of these which are a problem because of neglect. Not by the owners, they believe the boiler was serviced, when it wasn't. This really ought to be criminal neglect as it is fraud. The boilers get a lot of deposits on the baffles, and it's all downhill from then on. It's not easy to recover the situation, and powerflushing is likely to be the minimum you will need.
