how can i prevent this? Ive turned pump down to lowest speed. Vent is on suction side of pump about 3.8m below header tank. CH feed enters system at first floor about 2.6m below tank. Is a non return valve the answer??

Def no valve in the vent pipe. The cold feed and vent pipe should join the system at the same place. Yours may not be configured that way, and there may also be a restriction in the system.
