If the fusewire is wrong, then change it back to 5A

But how does this stop you putting the pendant up :?:

what seems like mains supply (could be switch) cable has usual live, neutral, earth but the ends of the wire have thick, multiple metal ends as opposed to normal wire that is wired into normal pendant

even if I twist together with pliers am unable to fit into pendant

Stranded cable, I think you are describing. As opposed to solid cable.

Fuse wire is usually the term for the fuse at the consumer unit or fuse box.

It may be a case of extending the large cable with a smaller bit via enclosed junction box in the loft, but it may pay to find out a bit more first.

Where does the thick cable go to?

Is this a regular lighting circuit fed by a 5/6/10 amp circuit breaker or fuse?

If you can send photos of everything this could be useful.

having trouble uploading the photos will resubmit in morning

Thanks for your help so far

I have actually worked out that the extra cable was actually for an old shower that was at the property

So I am left with the following

Landing
2 lights
1 switch downstairs
1 switch upstairs

Upon into the loft I have 2 wires into 1 light then the switch wire goes to the 2nd light

Is this all I need for the 2nd light?

if so what type of pendant should it be?
