I am helping a friend out to move off a steel water pipe and move over to plastic.

He has bought a special straight coupler costing £20. He has 2 sizes. 1" and 3/4" to 15mm.

He has an issue with a shared stop tap with the neighbours water pipe. So if it goes wrong and we cant get the coupler to lock on well then it means the neighbour will be without water until we can get a plumber to change the stop tap over and fit his own.

I have suggested he gets a stop end just in case we need it.

Do you know if we can get one of these from screwfix or tool station ?

Probably best leaving it until the neighbour doesn’t need water or you can have a separate one. Steel isn’t the best, a job I once didn’t I ended up leaving about 4 houses without water for a few hours because eveytime I repaired the leak, it had pitted somewhere else.
