Hi,

I have search the forums for my problem but cannot find an answer, hence this post.

I turned the speed on my pump down from 3 to 2 (i have a 2 bed flat) and ever since when the CH is on the boiler fires up and runs for about 5-10 mins and then shuts down (the pump is still running) for about 5 mins and then fires back up and so on. The reason I turned the pump down was because becoming noisy, could this have caused the boiler problem?

Thanks in advance.

Does it go back to normal if you turn the pump speed up again?

The boiler starts and stops because the heat isn't being taken away fast enough. If the pump wasn't always noisy, it may be time for a new pump. The pump could be worn because of dirt in the system.

Thanks for the reply, I'm home now and will switch it back and let you know. I'll probably get a new pump, looks easy enough to fit. Any tips on fitting a new pump?

Disconnect the pump slowly as you may have trouble you don't expect with the valves either side of the pump not shutting off.

Are the radiators plumbed in microbore pipe? How many radiators? Do the rooms heat up with pump on speed 2 or even 1? Make, model and size of boiler would help.

If the rooms are heating up with pump on lower speed, do not worry about the boiler shutting down
