Hi

I'm replacing the rose / pendant fitting with a new light but confused about some of the wiring.

new light has connector on the new light has blue brown and earth and is supplied with a block connector for these 3 wires. Coming from the ceiling I have 3 red, 1 black, 1 blue, 1 brown and the earth. How do I connect these to the light which only has 3 connections?

Thanks

well at least your asked first. Normally they get disconnected, mixed up and you end up with no lights in your house!

Firstly can you get all those 3 cables into the new light, and wire up? is there room? If no, think again. Try and keep that rose there if possible to make your life easy.

But basically, the middle 3 cables must remain joined, and you will need some sort of junction for them.

Hopefully there are terminals in the light for the other wires.

Most lights aren't suitable to get all those cables in! Nightmare! Not a job for a winters, sunday afternoon

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried to keep the rose in place as it looks like it would be pretty straightforward if I could but unfortunately the bolts aren't long enough to secure the light fitting if I do. There seems to be enough room in the new fitting to get all the wires in.

Did you fit the wago connectors in that picture?
I suspect you will struggle to make all the connections within that light fittings base using those.
Do you have access to above the ceiling ,I would consider making the connections in a MF junction box ,and just run a flex from it to the light fitting if you do.
