Hi,

I have changed lights in the past and had no problem as there has always been a connector unit within the base of the light fitting, so it's been clear where to unattach the wires.

However in my living room I just took the fittings down and I can't see where to unattached the wires, they seem to go deep into the unit. The light unit is very thin so doesn't seem large enough to house a connector and i can't see anything in the roof or lower down the unit. And I don't really want to start cutting anything without knowing what i'm doing :)

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do here? Am I missing something?
Is the best thing to do to just cut the wires and create a new end to feed into the new unit?

I checked in the roof but it doesn't seem to be there either.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There certainly will be a connector up in the ceiling.

Best to turn the power off before you go groping around as there will be live wires up there, even if the light switch is off!
