Hi

I have 2 lights in the garden which run from the same light switch in the house (2lights, 1 switch). I want to change the lights to PIR activated lights which I guess is pretty simple. But do I just need to buy one pir light or do I need to replace both lights to pir lights. I'm guessing that as one light is chain linked to the othere it won't work if both are pir lights as the second light will only get power once the 1st light is activated.

I'll probably buy something from screwfix, so any ideas what is best?
Thanks
Kelv

Not 100% sure but I moved a PIR activated 150 W halogen light away from my boiler flue and the neighbour's back door. Then added a second light, minus a PIR and coupled them together. Pretty sure that I did it in a box at the back of the light, but I did run the cables inside the garage for neatness.
if you use an external junction ensure that it's weather/waterproof.

Just realised there's no reason why each individual light is not already wired directly to the switch and not to each other. I guess that changes things.

It depends on where you want the light detection to happen.
If in only one place, then just use a separate PIR and add it to the circuitry that is already in place.

If you want the detection to happen in more than one place, then you'll need to add more wiring to enable the switched live from more than one place. Again, stand alone PIRs are best for this.

Please be aware that the new breed of "combo" PIR+light things are mostly designed to be stand alone units and don't support interlinking.
