Changing mixer taps, are these just screw off and screw on?

HI everyone,

My mixer tap is broken, and I've got a whole new one to replace - looking at this pipe work, is my best course of action just unscrewing the top and fitting the new taps, or is it worth cutting away below the old isolation valves and replacing everything with flexi and a new valve?

Thanks!

You are missing the back nuts that hold the tap to the bath. New taps are usually supplied with them . Rigid copper is superior to Flexi hoses. You will need new fibre tap connector washers and the existing ones need to be removed and the tap connector cleaned of all traces of the old washers,if you decide to keep the copper.

HI Terry,

Thanks for replying, I have the back nuts, thankfully. I was surprised the old ones didn't have them, but it explains why they wobbled like crazy (only just bought house). Will any fibre washers do? And what would you recommend for cleaning off the tap connector?

Thank you mate

3/4 tap connector washers required. If I were you ,would remove the copper pipe from the compression fitting take it out from under the bath to clean out old washer. It would be very difficult to do it in situ.
Sometimes the old washer will lift off the tap connector in one piece, other times it's in pieces and needs picking out . A very small precision screwdriver is useful to clean it out. Clean the pipes with wire wool or similar.

Thanks Terry, do you mean take out the pipe from the isolation valve upwards?
