Hi everyone,

I have an old shower with a thermostatic control knob that no longer works, so the shower is boiling hot.

I think I need to change the cartridge, however I cannot figure out how to take off the control knob. All the info I see says that there is a small notch where you just prise it off, or a small screw holding it on, but I see nothing. I put some photos below.

Assuming I can get it off, is it a DIY job to change? The shower is built in, so if I can't change the cartridge it is an expensive upgrade.

Any tips appreciated! Many thanks in advance.

Gill

My opinion:
1. If you can identify the precise make and model of shower, and you can isolate the hot and cold supplies to it, then it is a DIY proposition.
2. If you can't do either or both, get someone in.

Worth checking to make sure any filter(s) / non-return valve(s) aren't blocked before spending the money.
