After an electricity blow, we stopped having hot water. An electrician reset the thermostats (one on normal and one of electricity 7) but the hot water stopped again. Both thermostats were changed and the electrician said that the bottom element needs changing.
Can anybody help? How do I empty the tank (there is not valve)? Do I need special tools?

Do I need special tools?

well a G3 qualification would be a start.

these are restricted appliances, its against the law to work on them without the relevant certification.

Can't see why you need to have G3.

There should be a drain cock on the bottom of the cold inlet to the megaflo.

Turn off the valve on the combination valve then open a hot tap and drain the megaflo.

You should have a special immersion heater spanner for the megaflo.

G3 is needed as I just re classified last monday and that question came up.

What if the op installs the element and does not connect the energy cut out along with the correct thermostat.

Is it not all in one on the megaflo immersion? They have the red button overheat cut out
