Changing Thermostat

Hello,

I have a Vaillant EcoTec 637 system boiler installed and the heating is controlled by a VRT30 wired thermostat. I want to change the thermostat to a wireless configuration using the Salus RT500RF. I have a wiring question. The VRT has three wires connected to it from the boiler and I think that they are the; live, switched live and neutral. The wiring for the RT500 shows that only the live and the switched live are wired from the boiler and a further live and neutral need to come from a mains feed. In simple terms can someone explain "mains feed"?
