Morning,
I want to change a switch on a two way circuit for a one way switch. The other switch in the circuit used to be a pull cord but has been removed (I don't know what they did with the wires when it was removed).
So, can I use a one way switch and if so which wires do I connect to where?
Is it a case of trying the yellow and blue wires and seeing which one works?
Cheers.

well if you now only have one switch (you said pull cord being second switch, which isnt there) why do you wamt to change it?

also to give you an answer what colours have you got? (if only 3 you want what ever is connected to C & L1)

If you havn't already, the cable that fed the switch you took out needs the common and one of the others connecting together.

Then, for the switch you're keeping, use the common and the same colour as L1.

Thanks for the replies.
I didn't remove the other switch myself, it was already removed when I bought the house, but I can see were it was taken off.
I don't know what they did with the wiring and its in the most awkward spot in the roof space to get to to I'd rather not try and have a look.
I want to change the switch for one of these wireaway one with the keyfob, but they only do them in a one-way version.
The current switch has a green going to the earth terminal, a yellow and a blue in the bottom and a red out the top.
So do you think I just need to transfer the red from C to C and which ever colour is in L1 and it'll be alright?

it depends on how who ever disconnected it did it, if it is still working (as it seems that it is) then yes.

if not use the yellow and blue in C and L1 (you could of course try an ordainiry one way switch first)
