Beer is stupid money in a pub.

Spoons is ideal for the old guys who want to get out for a wee bit of company and social interaction where they can get a couple of pints for less than 4 quid in some cases . Let's them budget a few days out instead of 1 day at other places with stupid prices
They were discussing this on a tv prog a few weeks back re cheap price of booze in shops and how it's affecting the pub trade. I sat in almost disbelief when a pro-pub person essentially said the shop prices should be increased in an attempt to 'encourage' folk back into pubs.
Has it not occurred to folk like this that some (maybe most) folk would rather have a drink at home these days as opposed to going to the pub? Especially when it's costing them less, often a lot less.
I'm not sure if this is true (too lazy to fact check) however I've seen mention that less younger folk regularly frequent pubs these days. Maybe the whole thing is changing and a slow decline in the pub trade (due to less footfall) is inevitable? A bit like folk attending church

Alcohol consumption is down among the young, that's true.
Cocaine consumption though, has become normalised and routine, and is a lot more prevalent nowadays than even 15 years ago, IME.
Had a pint of Greene King i.p.a. in Wetherspoons last week for £1.99.

yep he pays 16 year olds £8.10 an hour and all members of staff get a free meal during shift what a horrible feker he is
