Hi,

Not sure if this question belongs here or under roofing but I'm thinking of getting the top of my chimney pots capped and was wondering if there are any particular types I need to get as I have a gas fire in the lounge. The gas fire is the type that uses Radiants - but I may change this sometime in the future to an inset fire.

Do I need a certain type of cap for the chimney pot or will any that has ventilation holes be OK. I'm concerned that having the wrong type of cap could lead to carbon monoxide problems.

I have seen these:

will any of these be OK? Which type would be better or are there others I should be looking at?

Thanks

The first two does not comply for gas, the third one does.
But you should always have the fire tested when doing any work on the flue. Find an RGI who will advise and test (and maybe even fit the terminal)

Hi FT, as someone that's just in the process of building their portfolio, can I check.

Is the 2nd one suitable for a gas appliance? I thought those types of terminal were only for venting an old chimney as is the 1st one?

It's the 3rd one that's OK for a gas appliance?

Thanks very much for your replies. I was going to ask whether the 3rd type would be OK too but you've all answered my question about that one. Thanks Madrab for double checking about the 2nd type being unsuitable if there was a gas fire beneath (y)
