I live in a terrace house and the kitchen is in the basement. I am planning to renovate the kitchen and want to remove some stone shelves that are built into the wall in between two chimney support pillars. There are two shelves in the centre and one either side of the pillars. The plan is to fit a range cooker in this space.

Will removing the two centre stone shelves affect the structural strength of the chimney support pillars and the whole chimney stack?
