Chipped Acrylic Bath

I asked in DIY disasters, but got told to post in here...

In the process of working on my bathroom, I dropped the sink in the bath and the waste pipe chipped the surface of the bath.

Replacing the bath is not really an option and the chip is relatively small - 10mm by 3mm at it's widest.

I'm looking at repair kits as I'm worried about it leaking - haven't filled the bath up yet.

While I would like a flawless match, a good solid repair is more important.

So far I have found 4 products that seem to fit the bill, and going by the reviews on Amazon, 2 are contenders...

I'm torn between the Milliput and the Craemer - The Milliput looks easier to apply, but the Craemer looks like it will give the better aesthetic finish...

You've chosen 2 that are for ceramics and porcelain, not acrylic. Acrylic needs a flexible filler. Acrylic repair can be used in all but repair filler designed just for ceramic/porcelain cannot be used on acrylic as it sets too hard.

So either the first 2 or the acrylic version of the Craemer would do I'm sure.

The only one that doesn't specifically list acrylic is the milliput. But that does mention UPVC (however I am aware that the stresses on a tub and a window frame are completely different).

The reason I asked the question is because of the poor reviews for the Anglo and the Ronseal.

The Cramer gets reasonably good reviews, but the colour coat is prone to flaking.

Despite not being mentioned on their site, milliput had been recommended for acrylic baths on here before...

Hence my quandary.

On the face of it the Anglo looks good, but the reviews are shocking, but that could just be down to not following instructions to the letter!

Your preference was for the last 2 which are the ones I was responding to with those comments.

The millput product you prefer and the one linked to doesn't mention acrylic therefore I personally wouldn't recommend it to be used on acrylic that may be prone to flexing, if it was I'm sure they'd specify.
The Craemer product you linked to looked as if it had an acrylic specific product, 2 separate links on the page, but on closer inspection it seems as if it is exactly the same thing with slightly different text, which is rather confusing.

I have used these guys stuff for re-enameling and repair, though they do specify that their product is suitable for acrylic too.

And far as I understand from looking at their videos, the products that Cramer offer are slightly different.

One is like a ready mixed liquid paint, the other (the one I linked to) is like a 2 part epoxy. And the one I linked to does mention acrylic.


I'd be very interested to see the results from that tubby though, do you have any photos?
