i have a lovely black diamond shaped mirror, which was only on the wall for 5 days, when it fell off, smashing a black glass table. There is quite a large chip on the mirror, is it possible to repair, or will I have to buy a new one

Try one of those companies that repair chips in windscreens.
It will depend on whether the chip goes all the way through the glass in which case it will be impossible to create the vacuum to draw in the resin. And it may damage the silvering on the back of the mirror.
And then before fixing it back on the wall design a better and stronger support for it.
