Hi,

We're having a new central heating system installed (combi-boiler, new pipework and rads, TRVs on all rads) but we are sourcing our own radiators.

We've been looking at many 'designer radiators' for the living room, many of these we very much like the look of, many unfortunately are very expensive  !!

The main problem we have found is that we cannot find a radiator that we like, isn't too expensive, fits teh space, but has high enough BTU rating to heat the room. I reckon we need about 5800 BTU's for our living room but the radiator we like the most only has a rating of 2900 BTU. However, we are planning on supplementing this by additionally having a gas fire in the room.

So the question is, is the practise of having a underpowered radiator for the room but supplementing it with a gas fire generally seen as acceptable ?

Many thanks for any advice

Defeating the object IMHO but its your choice.

Seems the more expensive option by heating twice :(

Not a good idea undersizing the radiator, you will regret it.
