I have recently had a leak at the stop cock of my property repaired by the water company. Since then the toilet cistern continually overflows. The cistern is mains fed (not gravity tank) and has the red "thingy" for mains pressure fitted inside the valve as opposed to white one for tank fed. Plus the float adjustment is at its max, yet it still overflows.

Can anyone suggest why this could be and how I can solve it.

The internals are all plastic fit, would a metal valve be any better?

Any ideas much appreciated.

Regards

Quite likely a bit of rust, limescale, grit or the fitters thumbnail has been dislodged by the work, been washed down the pipe, and got stuck in the valve. Take it apart and wash it out.

John, your a diamond. Took it apart, and as you said a great big piece of grit was trapped in it. Removed it and good as before. Thanks a lot.
