Looking to build a garden room from SIPS with an EDPM roof. I really want to achive this look where the CLADDING is above the EDPM ROOF LINE.

Can you guys help a poor soul?

Thanks!

Why?

Any cladding in that zone is going to get battered. It will look pristine for a very short while. The end grain will go black quickly. In fact, all the wood will discolour unless you 'love' it. The recent fad of Cedar clad, has led to many thousands of neglected wood facades looking dull, blackened or washed out grey.
A black roof trim around the top of that wooden cladding, will become the highlight focal point, once the surrounding wood has faded into dulled obscurity.

It's simple. The walls extend above the roof level and the roof is fitted lower.

Those are crap designs though. If you have a look at them in a couple of years time you'll see the water staining into the endgain at the top.

it is effectively a parapet wall.

the flat roof EPDM laps up the sides. then some lead or EPDM trim comes down over the lap

however on the photos youve provided the detailing of the vertical cladding and top trim is incorrect, there needs to be an overhang with drip detail

Perhaps consider Zinc cladding with a capping, that's very doable. I guess fibre cement cladding would work with an aluminium trim. At least they could be cleaned properly. Timber is a lot of work to stay looking good here.
