Class 2 prefabricated flue

I have just had a gas fire removed and been told I have a class 2 prefabricated flue. My plasterer is going to board this hole up for me. Is this ok to do? Do I need to put any insulation behind the plasterboard. I have been told I might notice a draught in the room. I have also been told I need to cap it off at the top. I have no idea about any of this or even what ‘capping it off’ means or how I do this. I didn’t realise removing the fire, would leave me with a hole in my wall.any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
