cleaning off Orange stain from tles and grout

Hi all,

I have an orange stain on my shower tiles. I think it may be from shampoos etc or maybe just from the minerals in the water.

On one of my many trawls through the forums I remember seeing that someone recommend cleaning the tiles with a solution of

either soda crystals or caustic soda solution.

Try as i might I cannot find the post

so can i ask which of these would be best to clean the stain off or is there anything even better?

caustic soda will take the meat off your bones, not just the skin off your fingers

If you mean the grout is stained then use some bleach and a toothbrush (not the wifes though ) then leave for about 15 mins before rinsing,should bring it up nice and white again but white grout will always stain over time.

it sounds to me as though you have lime scale bloom.

do you live in a hard water area?
