Hi. Just had a new bathroom window sill installed (been waiting months for it), it's white plastic cut to shape and glued down. There's some residue on the surface, I think it's from the silicone used around the edges. Just really wanted to know if white spirit is safe to use on plastic sills or if it would make things worse? What else is safe to use on plastic for cleaning stuff off? Vinegar and bicarbonate of soda ok? You can see the darker residue marks along the surface in the photo (came out a bit dark).

The reviews on that product are fairly poor, and it doesn't answer my question either.

I think it does.
YOU SAID What else is safe to use on plastic for cleaning stuff off/

Lots of silicon remover available , if used according to instructions works fine.

Fair enough, I'll take your word for it. But what about white spirit since I already have some? That's often mentioned to remove silicone from ceramic tiles but is it ok on plastic? I'm just wondering if it might in any way affect/dull the white surface. Probably won't but thought it worth checking.

You can use white spirit on plastic assuming it's upvc or similar, test it first by applying on a Q tip, any adverse reaction, wipe it off quickly. But as I have advised on several previous threads use toothpaste worked up to a lather, doesn't react with anything (known) is mild but abrasive and readily available and will not affect the luster...pinenot :)

Get a bottle of trade uPVC cleaner from a uPVC supplier -( about £4.00 from Shepherds in Eastbourne who I use )
