Hi all

I wanted to make my grout lines in bathroom whiter as it doesn’t look great atm

I had a steamer In the house (see pic) from many moons ago. Never used it before but filled it up with water and started steaming away at the grout

But it didn’t seem to remove any dirt / make grout white as desired as you can see from pics

In the end I just used mould spray and it although it didn’t make it white it got rid of most mould

We have a fan but probably guilt of leaving tiles wet after shower

Anyway what I wanted to know is there any way to make the grout white?
Was I steaming wrongly? Or is it just not possible to rescue it now as tiles are about 10 years old. A total re grout is expensive and external job but maybe only way..

Any advice is appreciated :)

If its any consolation Dave, I've had no success with steaming grout (or cookers, or anything) and its a big con.
The only way is to rake the grout out and apply new.....:(
Whitening touch ups are also useless.
John :)

I found out today from a cleaning company that they use toothpaste and lemon juice to clean grout lines in bathrooms. It is mixed together and rubbed in with an old toothbrush.

Back in the days when I still smoked, I used to use neat bleach and a tooth brush to remove the nicotine stains for the tiles. It also helps to kill the bacteria left by the atomised shower gels.
