Clearing Bathroom Main Waste Pipe

Hi,

My bathroom main waste water pipe is getting blocked (bath, sink and toilet all slow to drain and bad smell). I have tried a mr muscle unblocker without any joy. Is there anything else I should try before calling the plumber?

If all appliances are slow to drain then fair chance you've a blockage in the drain. Lift manhole covers outside, start from nearest the house first. Pits should be empty, with the pipework and half channel visible in the bottom, any standing effluent indicates a blockage.

If it appears you do have a blockage, it could be the Water Authority's responsibility to clear it depending on where the problem lies. Might be worth calling them for advice first.
