I've chosen a 'click' engineered wooden flooring. It's advertised as 'Herringbone' but from the sample piece it looks identical to any other click system flooring I've seen.

Question is, would it take a professional considerably longer to fit the flooring in a herringbone style as apposed to the regular straight way?

I don't want to end up paying for days of labour I can't afford.

I have just had a quote, the cost of straight or herringbone for materials was roughly the same, labour cost was double.
So that should answer your question.

Double. Wow. That sucks. Might have to throw the herringbone idea out of the window :'(

Did they mention why it would take longer? I can only assume the edges
are more tricky.

He said that there was a lot more work, all the edges are cut at an angle, etc

Did you have a price for fitting per square meter? I'd be curious what they are just so I know when I get a price.
