I am reading conflicting advice on the number of clips I should use for 6x6 panels and also the positioning of these.

Also, the actual gravel board clips seem pricy as I have around 10 boards. Do you recommend the use of these or is there a economical alternative?

Thanks in advance

Concrete gravel boards are worth having and will last 20 times longer that wood.

The same goes for the posts. It is hard and tedious to remove an old post that has rotted and broken, with its lump of concrete in the ground.

I've now received delivery of the wooden posts and panels...

And a recommendation on the screw type would be gratefully received too. Thanks

I have 6'6 panels in my fence with wooden posts. Not my choice, I would go for concrete posts and 12" concrete gravel board, but as it's rented property I don't have a say.
The panels are held in with 3 per side on each panel. 1 at the top, 1 in the middle and one about 4" above the ground level. When the wind blows the posts rock and the panels bow with the wind. So, first priority is to make sure the posts are sunk deep enough with a suitable sized concrete boot. They should be allowed to fully set before fitting the panels. To do this you have to make sure the posts are set at the correct distance apart and that they are perpendicular to the ground and in a straight line when viewed end on.
Use the thickest screws you can to attach the brackets, (I would recommend using at least 4 or possibly 5 brackets instead of the normal 3), and to screw through the bracket into the panel use pan head screws, not countersunk.

Yes, go for it. Concrete posts have a full length channel and I've even seen wooden posts fitted with full length metal channelling.
I think the important thing is to get the posts secure. Panels will blow out over time, it happens, but much easier to replace than support posts.

I've gone with 3 on each side. Didn't have enough for 5 on each side...
My progress so far:
