don't know if this is the right forum for my query but here goes.
my wife just rang me & said "i've done something silly" thoughts go through my head ,crashed car/flooded the bathroom/burnt house down?
it was much worse than that :(
she said a man knocks on the door and says we are in an area that is ellegible for a 100% grant for cavity wall insulation so she signs the paper that states cost of work NIL.
he says that you can check it out on www.defra.gov.uk .
after i'd finished going ballistic i said did she see the top & bottom copy that she signed as the middle one that she has has NO SMALL PRINT.
i think they will probably come round inject some stuff in the cavity & say your dpc needs replacing £££££££££££ etc.......
the company is situated in coventry and we live in north east lincs so not very local.
i think you get a 14 day cooling of period or am just being paranoid about the whole thing
the company is called JSL INSULATION SPECIALISTS based in coventry.
my wife knows she has done a very silly thing so i don't want to nag her too much until i have facts straight.
does anyone know of this company heard of them at all coz they might be a scam or they could be 100% legit

I have made a few searches on this company; the first thing is that I do not find them registered at compainies house. (Most good going concerns are registered, thats not to say that JSL are not good).
In a search on the web I found reference to Dec 2002 where they had been involved with 'The Wrekin Housing Trust’, doing insulation work. I would expect Trusts to have a vetting procedure, you could ask them.
You could always get in touch with your local or Coventry Trading Standards & ask if there have been complaints.

2561021 Is the Registered No of ' Joatrad Services Ltd', But they are trading as JSL Services Ltd. This would mean that if you substitute JSL for Joatrad, they would be called Joatrad Services Services Ltd. This is strange way to trade. Whatever you want to call them the parent company is 'Sandwell Horizons Ltd' Reg No. 2019320. Both companies appear 'sound'.

The insulation grants are usually dependent on receipt of some sort of benefit. Your wife may have signed to say that she is, without realising it.
Have a look at the warmfront site
