we have recently moved our wm to new utility area with cold feed only. we have used the recommended fitting, but the machine does not seem to working correctly. Water only enters the machine on a couple of cycles, and the machine does not seem to be rinsing at all.Any sugestions?

The fact it doesnt rinse would suggest that cold water is not getting in via the cold fill valve,90% of wm's use cold for rinse

you should be using a Y connector

which is connected to both hot and cold fill and then the cold supply, i take it this is the case?

The manual for my bosch machine actually says to just leave the hot disconnected if its not available.

that wont work with a hotpoint, as it uses the hot water to take in the soap from the soap draw (i always spell that wrong)

wonder what make the m/c is

Have you considered the possiblity that this could be a Drinks Vending machine :)
Maybe Kenco, I think some of those have rinse cycles on them.

holy beverages batman, GoSh i guess you'r right

yes, we have used a y piece. The zanussi manual tells you to use one & that the machine can work on cold fill only.

it sounds like the cold fill valve is not working, it may be co incidence thatyou meved it and it doesnt work (may be it hasnrt for some time, but that is unlikeley) it may also be the connecting wire to the cold fill valve has come off (probably since you moved the m/c)

have you taken the lid off and have a look to see if the cold fill valve has 2 wires connected to it?

What if the new cold feed is not on mains pressure? Some machines have a pressure regulator in the inlet connection that you may need to remove if gravity filling. The hot one may have previously been removed because that one was gravity fill anyway, so the machine still fills through the hot pipe. The other thought is that the inlet filter needs cleaning. Any use?

thats a good point, the other thing is you may (if all well) be able to hear the valve humming
