I would like some advice on insulating my kitchen floor please. I have ceramic tiles laid on a sound and dry 50mm screed, but during the winter the room is always cold. I'm quite prepared to lift the screed to accommodate an insulation material, but there are pipes crossing the floor buried in the screed. Any ideas please ?

Could you fit a plinth heater? If not, you will need to carefully lift the tiles. Then assume you would need to remove the screed to maintain floor level?

Would look to identify the pipe run then carefully chip it out

It sounds as if the kitchen just needs better heating, I didn’t think you would lose heat through the floor seeing as heat rises. Is there a radiator in the kitchen?

Insulation won’t make your floor warmer .
