Colourful Plants in the Winter

Hi,

Every Nov this plant out front comes out in a bloom of colour. Everybody remarks on it. I have no idea what it is but it's some cheer against autumn skies. It made me wonder if there's a Dec colourful plant as well I could grow to then swap around?
