Colouring cement

i need to mix a small quantity of mortar - literally a bucket full at most! That needs to be either dark blue (as blue engineering bricks) or black.

Buying a cement colorant for such a small quantity seems such a waste of money (Northern upbringing kicking in!). Does anyone know how I can achieve either of the aforementioned colours in the cement mix without incurring the cost of colourants intended for much larger mixes

Use a sharpie to colour in the mortar afterwards.

How much is a sharpie?

The OP could pick up a free pair of 3d glasses which he can wear to make the concrete look black or dark or something.

I'd post him some if things are that tight, but I've only got red and buff in the shed.

Sorry if you think I'm being too tight fisted but I just don't see why I should waste £10.36 (cheapest I found locally) just to mix one bucket full if there's an alternative solution

Think how much you're saving by doing by your self.

You could use lampblack if you are really tight.
